This Panel will discuss the relationship between the ethic of responsibility and decolonization in the context of environmental law. Drawing upon experiences of First Nations law and legal regimes in the Global South, the panel will challenge the prevailing values of Western law and the suitability of those values for managing human nature relations in the Anthropocene.

Each panellist shall present a different perspective on the challenges of overcoming the legacy of colonization in societal, institutional and legal contexts.
This closing panel will discuss how the ethic of responsibility can guide the direction of environmental law as humanity seeks to manage the future of planetary change.
