Opening Keynote Panel

Decolonizing Environmental Law
9 February 2022, 8pm (AEDT)

This Panel will discuss the relationship between the ethic of responsibility and decolonization in the context of environmental law. Drawing upon experiences of First Nations law and legal regimes in the Global South, the panel will challenge the prevailing values of Western law and the suitability of those values for managing human nature relations in the Anthropocene. 

The Panel will be composed of prime keynote speaker Dr Jo Rey (Macquarie University), Professor Mindy Chen-Wishart (University of Oxford) and Dr Dina Lupin (Global Network for Human Rights and the Environment). View speaker bios

Each panellist shall present a different perspective on the challenges of overcoming the legacy of colonization in societal, institutional and legal contexts.


Closing Plenary Panel

Future Directions for Responsibility in Environmental Law
11 February 2022, 5pm (AEDT)

This closing panel will discuss how the ethic of responsibility can guide the direction of environmental law as humanity seeks to manage the future of planetary change.
