Calling all space enthusiasts, young and old! Brace yourselves for Sydney’s most mesmerising astronomy event. Be whisked away on a cosmic adventure. Back again by popular demand Astronomy Open Night is coming this September.

Prepare to be awed and entertained with our captivating
Physics Magic Shows and dive deep into the mysteries of the universe as you witness the breathtaking beauty of distant galaxies during our immersive Planetarium sessions. Our renowned Macquarie academics and experts will be back to deliver a series of engaging short talks on a range of diverse topics.

There's something for every young space explorer! Our
Kids' Space awaits tiny tots and young learners with exciting mini experiments and scientific activities. For the older adventurers, tweens and teens can take the reins of an interactive robot with FIRST Robotics or experience student-made games that promise to challenge and inspire budding coders and game designers, courtesy of Macquarie’s computing societies at our Cosmic Arcade

Don't forget to gaze upon the wonders of the night sky at Macquarie University’s
Astronomical Observatory. Our Telescope Park offers an opportunity to observe stars and planets up close. 

Visit the final night of
'The Immersive Power of Light' exhibition, a collaboration between the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Macquarie Art Gallery celebrating Macquarie University's 60th Anniversary. Get ready for an exciting addition to the event: an astrophotography competition awaits. Capture the Cosmos offers you the chance to cast your vote for the people's choice of the most breathtaking image. 

Food and drink will be available to purchase, with many vendors from the University’s own food court open up during the event. 

Come rain or shine, Astronomy Open Night will shine bright! Prepare for an astronomical experience like no other!
