The Centre for Elite Performance, Expertise, and Training (CEPET) is an interdisciplinary research group studying the neural, cognitive, emotional, motor, and social processes by which expert skills are acquired, maintained, and deployed. We integrate world-leading research on expertise at multiple levels of analysis, across multiple domains, and across the lifespan.
Members of CEPET combine the specialised scientific study of neural, cognitive, technological, and organisational dimensions of expertise with a 'big-picture' vision of the complex nature of expertise, from medical diagnosis to emergency response, aviation to software engineering, professional sport to elite music and cinema training, to the application and development of AI and human-machine interaction systems for expertise assessment and training. We assess genetic, physiological, motivational, collaborative, and cultural roots of, and constraints on, elite performance, with enduring interactions with relevant partner organisations.
