Year 12 Science Extension students, Year 10 and 11 Students and teachers, join us to celebrate the research of Year 12 students undertaking HSC Science Extension in a research conference setting. Meet like-minded school students, undergraduates and PhD researchers to share your passion for science.  

The full-day conference will include talks and posters presented by Year 12 Science Extension students, opportunities to network and meet undergraduate and PhD researchers, as well as lab tours throughout the Faculty of Science to get a taste for how your research journey can continue at university.

• Year 12 students: Present your HSC Science Extension research as a poster or deliver a 10-minute talk. Note applications for an opportunity to deliver a 10-minute talk open 30 June and will close 23 August.
• Year 10 and 11 students: Join us to explore this new HSC opportunity and get a unique insight into the possibilities for your future in science research, at an HSC, undergraduate and postgraduate level.  
• Teachers: Join us to celebrate with your students, network with fellow teachers, and come away feeling more informed and inspired about this exciting new subject.

All students must be accompanied by a teacher. 

Year 10s and 11s must be registered by a teacher. Year 12s will need to register themselves.

Please wear school uniforms. Lunch and morning tea is provided. Prizes for the best speakers!

Present your HSC Science Extension research as a poster or apply for an opportunity to deliver a 10-minute talk.

As there are only a limited number of talk spots available, they will be awarded through a selective screening process. To apply, please visit the event website, where you can find instructions on how to submit a 90-second video detailing why you are interested in giving a talk. Please submit your video by 23 August.

Year 10 & 11
If you are accompanying Year 10 and 11 students to this event you must also download and complete the Explore 2025 – Year 10 & 11 Registration form to register your group of students and email it to explore@mq.edu.au to finalise your registration. Note: you'll need to login to your Google account. 

Year 12
Please advise any Year 12 students to register themselves on this registration site. 

While your year 10 and 11 students are off touring campus and your year 12 students are planning their future, come and join your peers at 12pm for an informal conversation and discussion around Extension Science.

This event may involve photography and/or video recording of participants and attendees by the event organisers or third parties authorised by the event organisers. The photography and/or video recording may include images or recordings of attendees, speakers, performers and staff.
