Are there any safe spaces on campus?

Macquarie provides a range of safe, comfortable and inclusive spaces. These will be open on Open Day between 10am and 4pm.

  • The Queer Room, located on the ground level, 18 Wally’s Walk (view Google map), is a safe space for students and staff who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual or sex/gender diverse (LGBTQIA+).
  • The Women’s Room, located on the ground level, 18 Wally’s Walk (view Google map), is a space for female-identifying students and staff.
  • Our Sensory space, located in the foyer, 4 First Walk (view Google map), offers a place to relax, unwind, revitalise and get relief from sensory overload.

Is there a Muslim Prayer Room on campus?

Macquarie has a dedicated Muslim Prayer Room. It caters for males and females, with separate Wudu facilities.

Located at 8 Sir Christopher Ondaatje Avenue (view Google map), it will be open on Open Day between 10am and 4pm.

Are there any spaces to take a break at the event?

If you’re wanting to take a break from all of the Open Day action, head to our chill-out zones.

  • At the outdoor zone, located behind 1 Central Courtyard (view Google map), you can sit back and take in the view of our beautiful lake. You might also get the opportunity to give pats and cuddles to our resident therapy dogs.
  • For a quiet indoor break, head to the basement of 18 Wally’s Walk (view Google map). There’s ample seating to relax on – and if you’re super tired, you can have a snooze in one of our sleeping pods. The entrance is off the Central Courtyard to the right of the rainbow stairs.

Both zones are open between 10am and 4pm.

What should I do if I’ve lost – or found – something?
