Discover what these sessions have in-store for you!

Teacher Session

While your year 10 and 11 students are off touring campus and your year 12 students are planning their future, come and join your peers for an informal conversation and discussion around Extension Science.

Year 12 Session

During this session, year 12 students will spend time interacting with peers and university academics across a range of different disciplines. Not only will you gain insight into what your future collaborators are doing but also have the option to see where research can take you by having conversations with current PhD students and academics.

Science visits for Year 10's & 11's

See where studying science could take you...

Astronomical Observatory

Visit our on-campus observatory! As well as being a research-grade tool for new discoveries, we use our observatory for hands-on learning for undergraduates, collecting data alongside academics and PhD students.

Anechoic Chamber and OptoFab and 3D printing lab visit

Join us on a tour of one of the world’s quietest places! You’ll experience the surreal world of pure silence when you visit us in the anechoic chamber. Then, you’ll move from hearing into vision, where you’ll tour the MQ Photonics laboratory and get to check out advanced 3D printing and LASERS!

Next, the tour will take you through the speech physiology facilities where you will have the chance to ultrasound your tongue and find out about how this links to your accent.

Biotechnology Visit

This tour has a little bit for everyone: Explore the new field of Synthetic Biology and how researchers are using the combination of biology and engineering it to speed our transition to a greener economy and solve global problems, and discover the Australian Proteome Analysis Facility to see the technology up close that allows us measure every protein within a cell, with applications from cancer biology to agriculture.

Chemistry of designer materials

See how researchers at Macquarie University are using cutting edge chemistry to design and build the functional materials of the future.

Ecology and fighting invasive species

Take a guided stroll to Macquarie University's 11-hectare Fauna Park. The main purpose of the Fauna Park is to provide facilities for animal-based research, with the tour focusing on animal ecology and our efforts fighting invasive species.

Engineering

Engage with some applications of Engineering. Experience first-hand some of the technologies designed and impact our world.

Faculty Campus Tour

Join us on a journey through the cutting-edge facilities of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Explore Physics, Biology, Computing, and Engineering areas to get a first-hand look at where innovation happens.

Lasers and sensing

See how lasers let us control atoms to measure time and magnetism, sense ocean properties, and help astronomers to remove the twinkle from stars.

Medical Faculty Tour

Join a guided tour of our medicine facilities and health sciences facilities. Macquarie is a world leader in health. We're home to MQ Health – Australia's first university-led fully integrated health sciences centre – as well as Australia’s only not-for-profit hospital at a university, more than 30 specialist clinics and state-of-the-art clinical education labs.
