Conference Scholarships

Applications are now closed. All applicants will be advised by 29 April.

A number of scholarships are available for early childhood researchers and practitioners. Each scholarship will cover:

  • Return airfares to Sydney from your place of work/study
  • Airport transfer to and from Macquarie University 
  • Conference registration and conference meals included
  • Conference dinner
  • Four nights accommodation (Tuesday 5 to Friday 9 December inclusive) at the Mecure Sydney Macquarie Hotel

Recipients will be required to present a paper or poster at the conference and must submit to the abstract portal prior to applying.

Eligibility criteria

International researchers/practitioners 

  • Live and work in an Asia-Pacific country defined by the World Bank as either low income, low-middle income, or upper-middle income (full list countries included at the end of the document)
  • Have limited or no access to conference travel funding
  • Working, studying or researching in early childhood
  • Be eligible to obtain an Australian visa and able to travel to Australia


Australian HDR students/researchers/practitioners 

  • Have limited or no access to conference travel funding
  • Working, studying or researching in early childhood
  • Priority will be given to applicants from rural or remote areas and/or Indigenous students/researchers

Applications

Applicants will be asked to provide the following information on the scholarship portal:

  • Up to 300 words or a 3 minute video explaining how participating in this conference will contribute to your practice/research in ways that support the SDGs 
  • Up to 300 words or a 3 minute video outlining your education and research backgrounds and/or work experience and community involvement that relates to the SDGs
  • The title of the poster or paper presentation abstract submitted to the abstract portal
  • The conference strand your abstract falls under

Scholarship applications must be submitted by Friday 17 March 2023. Late submissions will not be accepted. 

All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their scholarship submission no later than Friday 29 April 2023.

Economic classifications and groupings 

The classification of countries into income groups is from the World Bank. The World Bank divides countries according to their 2015 gross national income per capita, calculated using the World Bank Atlas method. 

Low-income economies: 

Afghanistan, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Nepal. 

Lower middle-income economies: 

Armenia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Kiribati, Kyrgyzstan, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Federated States of Micronesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Viet Nam. 

Upper-middle-income economies: 

American Samoa, Azerbaijan, China, Fiji, Georgia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Palau, Russian Federation, Thailand, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu.
