There are now a plethora of devices that claim to measure sleep, from smartwatches to devices placed in the bedroom to apps that monitor sleep. These devices measure sleep using a variety of methods provide details about sleep depth, patterns and quality. But are all these devices accurate?
This presentation will disentangle the accuracy of consumer sleep technologies, with a focus on wrist-worn devices and smartwatches. The truth about whether these devices can accurately measure sleep will be explored.
Professor Christopher Gordon is an insomnia and chronobiology researcher whose research interventions to improve sleep health.
He is the leader of the insomnia and chronobiology research programs at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research.
