Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder causing excessive daytime sleepiness and "sleep attacks", even after sufficient sleep. The condition can be difficult to diagnose, and people can have symptoms that are very challenging to live with.
This presentation will explore what is occurring and why people who have narcolepsy have difficulty with staying awake.
Professor Brendon Yee is a Senior Staff Specialist in respiratory and sleep medicine at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and a Clinical Professor and Head of the Discipline of Sleep Medicine at the University of Sydney. He is an expert on the diagnosis and treatment of narcolepsy and leading trials for new narcolepsy treatments.
